I am Vermont’s Bar Counsel. My job includes providing guidance on issues related to attorney ethics. I hope to use this blog to share my thoughts on issues that involve attorney ethics, the practice of law, and anything remotely related thereto.

Bar Counsel’s Mission & Goals are as follows:
To promote compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct through education, while maintaining public confidence in the integrity of the bar through prompt resolution of disputes involving attorney conduct.
Consistent with the powers and duties delegated by the Vermont Supreme Court and the Professional Responsibility Board, Bar Counsel shall develop and maintain programs and processes that:
: promote attorney compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct;
: provide attorneys with the guidance, preventive advice, educational materials, and information necessary to achieve and maintain high standards of professional responsibility
: inform the public about the existence and operation of the Professional Responsibility Program;
: provide a forum for prompt resolution of disputes involving attorney conduct; and
: promote the critical importance of an independent Judiciary.
